Comission for ~DL2288 I really liked the character! I think the beginning of the storm suitable for him than anything else, when the weather calms down in anticipation of the raging elements) Hope ypu like it!
Well, first off, I want to say that this is utterly amazing. I love this entire piece.
The background looks incredibly realistic. The clouds have the perfect amount of darkness and depth. The rain has nice reflection. I would really love it if you had maybe put some of the rain dripping down the wolf's neck or back, though. As for the lightning, the reddish tint makes it look a little surreal. Lightning usually has a blue or purple tint, but I actually like the red. It matches the wolf's coloring and eyes and makes you feel like he is actually in a desert. (Which may or may not be what you intended, but it looks awesome.)
For the wolf, the anatomy looks fantastic except for a little of the chest. Maybe if you made the chest a little slimmer, it would help. I don't believe you were going for an extremely photorealistic drawing, but if there was some actual fur strokes all throughout it would give it a more realistic feel. Also, fur at the end is very wispy and thin. Just a little more fuzzyness and blur would be good. I love the pattern of the nose, but the way you lighted the drawing gives the nose a somewhat odd shape.
Overall, I truly love this. I would love to see more of your art in the future!
This piece of artwork is simply fantastic! Everything from the lighting and shadows, the background, the sudden strike of lightning, and the wolf's expression of hope (or at least that's what I gather from it). The color scheme is so pretty and subtle, but at the same time I can feel the fierceness of the situation. This picture makes me hear thunder in my head and feel the raindrops coming down like missiles on my skin. Great job, truly epic.
I would not want to give a detailed critique as I only have one criticism. Again, the position of the lightning, I feel should be higher or lower. It sits uncomfortably on the end of his nose. Unless that was what you intended of course! Love it though.
